Personal Impression
We were pleasantly surprised with the Salacia. Not knowing
what standards to expect we did not have high
expectations. Since our trip the Salacia has been
completely refurbished and those sailing on her now say
she is really a beautiful ship.
The public rooms
were nice particularly
the main lounge upstairs. The layout of the ship is
comfortable, the furnishing is very nice and the entire ship does have
a quality feel. The ship did offer some evening entertainment. We
had a whirling dervish who was excellent, pictured below.

Accommodations
The cabins are one Master Suite at 700 square feet, 18 Royal
Suites at 300 square feet, 9 Staterooms at 225 square
feet and 3 Single Cabins at 150 square feet. Really
spacious cabins for a Nile River Cruise ship. The Master
and Royal suites all have two bathrooms but they are
very TINY. Small
sink shower and toilet. Only one in the bathroom at a time. So
having the two bathrooms makes a huge difference. The
pictures below are PRIOR to the new refurbishment. |

Public Rooms and Dining
The public areas are very nice particularly the main lounge
upstairs. The staff are excellent, all speak reasonably good English
and have a wonderful happy disposition. The ship has really
nice woodwork and the furnishings are good quality.
There is no tipping aboard the ship. The food went from
average to a few outstanding dishes. They did pastas exceptionally
well. Breakfast and lunch is buffet then they usually have a
seated dinner at night. There are no choices the meal is just
served. The outside pool area is very nice with adequate room
and chairs for the number of guests. They do have entertainment on
some nights on board.
