Memphis It takes about 90 minutes to get to the former capital
of Egypt - Memphis. The drive was quite fascinating.
You pass rural areas and the people are very busy going
about their daily lives. The scenes we saw on the way
were worth the drive alone.
This is definitely worth a visit. The major attraction
is the colossal statue of Ramesses II pictured below.
This is a huge statue and you can walk all the way
around the statue and you are very close.
Along with this incredible statue there are other
interesting things to see. This was a good place to buy
souvenirs as many of the vendors had things we had not
seen elsewhere.
