Days 1-4 -
Maun/Linyanti Wildlife Reserve
Your journey begins as you
arrive in Maun,
Botswana. Meet your professional photographer
who will accompany you throughout the trip. A
representative from Wilderness Safaris will present
you with your flight tickets for your light aircraft
transfers in Botswana and then direct you to a light
aircraft for your flight from Maun Airport to
Linyanti Wildlife Reserve.
The Linyanti Wildlife Reserve offers one of Africa's
most exhilarating wildlife experiences. The area
covers 300,000 acres of prime wildlife country
situated between the Okavango and Chobe regions.
Yet, there are only 26 rooms in 3 small camps that
are allowed to access the game drive areas of this
reserve. Space and privacy are what sets this
reserve aside - as well as its brilliant wildlife
concentrations.
Elephants are one of the reserves prime attractions
- especially in our winter months when they are
forced to congregate along the waterways and around
the waterholes of the area when the rainfall filled
depressions and pans of the interior dry up. At
times the reserve must have several thousand
elephants roaming around. Red Lechwe, Zebra,
Wildebeest, Impala, Waterbuck, Sable, Roan, Eland,
Giraffe, Baboon, Monkey, Warthog, Crocodile and
Buffalo are some of the other animals to be found
here. Then there are the predators - Lion, Leopard,
Cheetah, Wild Dog and Hyena - and the nocturnal
animals - Bushbabies, Spring Hare, Aardwolf, Serval,
Genet, Pangolin - and the smaller predators. Birding
is great here - from the Okavango "specials", such
as Slaty Egret, Whiterumped Babblers and Wattled
Cranes, to the bushveld species.
Your luxury accommodations will be chosen based on
the best location for the time of year you are
traveling. Accommodations are inclusive of all
meals, local beverages, laundry and twice daily game
drives in a private vehicle.
Accommodations in Classic Camps: DumaTau or Savuti
Accommodations in Premier Camps: Kings Pool
Days 4-7 -
Linyanti Wildlife Reserve/Okavango Delta
Today you are transferred via light aircraft from
the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve to the
Okavango Delta.
The Okavango Delta is one of the world's largest
inland water systems, the only inland delta of its
kind and a unique oasis of life in the center of the
Kalahari Desert. It stretches over 16,000 square km
and supports a staggering variety of animal, plant,
fish and birdlife. The water was once thought to
have reached the sea, but this is no longer the
case. After a series of tectonic uplifts and
earthquakes running along geological fault lines,
the land at the edge of the Delta now lies lower
than that of the surrounding area. Hence the water
very rarely flows further south than Maun.
In some areas, Red Lechwe and Sable is common. Add
in Lion, Leopard, Elephant, cheetah and Buffalo
along with all the plains animals and one has an
excellent all round wildlife experience in a remote
and private part of the Okavango. Birding too is
great with large varieties and quantities. Walks,
mokoros (seasonally) and boating (seasonally,
depending on the camp) give you the opportunity to
enjoy Africa from a different perspective.
Your luxury accommodations will be chosen based on
